Fire risk assessment in Staffordshire
Independent, registered fire risk assessors covering Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, from Burton upon Trent and Uttoxeter to Stafford, Lichfield and Leek.

Just across the border from Derbyshire
East Staffordshire sits right alongside our home county, so Burton upon Trent, Uttoxeter and the villages along the A38 and A50 are a short drive from our base in Belper. We cover the rest of Staffordshire and the city of Stoke-on-Trent too.
Your assessment is carried out by a local qualified consultant. The business is led by Stephen Haywood, a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner listed on the Institute of Fire Safety Managers register and the National Fire Risk Assessors Register, so you can check its credentials for yourself.

Breweries, warehouses and industrial sites
Burton upon Trent has been a brewing town for centuries, and the A38 and A50 corridors are lined with factories, distribution centres and warehouses. Sites like these bring fire risks that need an experienced eye: large open floor areas, high-bay racking, forklift charging, process heat, dust and the sheer number of people who need to get out safely. We have assessed large, complex sites and will work around your shifts and operations.
The Potteries and historic towns
In Stoke-on-Trent, many former pottery works and industrial buildings now house workshops, studios, offices and flats, often with layouts that were never designed for their current use. Historic centres such as Lichfield, Stafford and Leek have older shops with homes above, where the separation between the two is a key part of any fire risk assessment.
Student and shared housing
Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme are home to Staffordshire University and Keele University, and a large number of shared houses. Landlords are usually the Responsible Person for the common parts of these HMOs, and the councils that license them expect to see evidence that fire safety has been properly assessed.
Holiday lets on the edge of the Peak District
The Staffordshire Moorlands include part of the Peak District, with holiday cottages, lodges and barn conversions around Leek, the Roaches and the Manifold Valley. The same rules apply as for any accommodation with paying guests: a suitable, written fire risk assessment, kept up to date.
Rural businesses and converted barns
Beyond the towns, Staffordshire’s countryside is full of farm shops, cafés, wedding and events venues, livery yards and workshops in converted barns and outbuildings. These often combine old buildings, large numbers of visitors who do not know the site, and activities from cooking to events with candles and temporary lighting. A fire risk assessment tailored to how the site is actually used, including occasional events, keeps both your visitors and your insurer happy.
Schools, offices and public buildings
Across Stafford, Lichfield, Tamworth and Cannock we assess offices, shops, schools, nurseries, churches and community halls. Each has different people to protect: staff who know the building well, members of the public who do not, and children or older people who may need help to get out. Your fire risk assessment should reflect who actually uses the building and when, including evening events and weekend lettings of halls and school sites.
Who enforces the law
Fire safety law across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent is enforced by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. After a site inspection at a time that suits you, you receive a comprehensive written fire risk assessment with an action log, which is the key document their inspectors will expect to see.
